In Esoteric Literature the Word ?christ? Has Five Different Definitions

07 Sep

What is the Cosmic Christ? “It is the Soul of the Universe, the link or the relation between matter and spirit, and the redemptive energy, which leads the life, sleeping in matter, toward glorious heights of endless unfoldment…. It is the Son, the second person of the Trinity.” (Christ the Avatar of Sacrificial Love). It is the Love energy in nature, that attractive, magnetic power that links us to each other. To me, the Cosmic Christ is the universal Messenger of God, who guides, inspires, and overshadows all great Teachers of world religions. It is through Him that all religions manifest. He has given the Divine Teachings to humanity through His intermediaries such as Krishna, Buddha, Jesus, Moses, Zoroaster, Lao Tse, Mohammed, to name just a few. If we are able to embrace the idea of a Cosmic Christ, Who does the will of the Father in Heaven, and elevates all mankind with God’s Teachings, then we can start building the bridges that will eventually help us unite all humanity under one God, not under one religion, but under one God with many manifestations. Conceptually, the idea of the Cosmic Christ helps us build the bridges of tolerance and acceptance.

The Cosmic Christ is known in many traditions under various names, such as Imam Mahdi, the Messiah, the Kalki Avatar, the Maitreya, the Bodhisattva, the Coming One, the Great One, the Great Spirit, and many others. He is known as the One Who is so far advanced and accomplished that He is able to give to humanity successive spiritual guidance through the Masters of Wisdom.

Our global conditions reflect our separative and exclusivist thinking. Our mind set conditions our opinions, feelings, and our actions and decisions. The idea of the Cosmic Christ can heal our separative minds. It can remove the walls of exclusivity that endanger human welfare. It allows us to think in broad terms and consider the majesty of God as part of all of us. It is in this way that we can understand that God does not take sides; He is always thinking of His children and, through the Cosmic Christ, never leaves us bereft of His Messengers and never leaves humanity without guidance.

Many religious people talk and act as if God is only on their side and not on the “other” person’s side. We pray to a sectarian God, a separative God, and one who takes sides helping us defeat the other person and beat others down. When I think of God and spiritual ideals in universal themes, I see how silly human beings have become and how separative we are when we think that our way is the only way. In thinking this way, we have effectively drawn a tight circle around us and identified the world between those who are in our circle and those who are outside of it. Even Presidential candidates in the United States talk about being on the side of all “true believers”!!!!! What about those who are outside of that circle by not believing the way a Presidential candidate may believe? How dangerous is this kind of separatism and how huge are the ramifications of such thinking? For all the talk about tolerance and acceptance, we have in effect taken that extra chair out of our dinner table and made sure no one comes and sits with us who is not “one of us.”

Some may object to this view saying that their particular Messenger is the only true Son of God and putting their Messenger in the same category with others demeans His status. To me this is not the case at all. Belonging to a group of Great Ones who incarnate to teach and guide humanity gives more power and legitimacy to each Messenger. They are not alone, but are part of the universe. If we can entertain this philosophical perspective, it may give us a new way to identify humanity. We would no longer look at one religion as better than another. We would no longer see one Messenger to be better and somehow more advanced than another. We may even form the philosophical foundation that enables us to be truly tolerant, inclusive, and humanitarian in our approach to others.

For people who have studied these kinds of Teachings and who have been exposed to many cultures and religious traditions, this is a logical and very beautiful idea to accept. For others, especially those who are very strict in their interpretation of religious teachings, this is totally unacceptable and may even be blasphemy. To the former, the Cosmic Christ means the Initiate, the Anointed One, the Cosmic Avatar; to the latter, Christ belongs only to the Christians and no one else. Those with strict interpretations of their religious teachings find the idea that greatness and reverence may be allowed to all Holy Ones is in itself totally unacceptable.

Sometimes you simply cannot force open unwilling hearts and minds; you just let life take care of it and let experience show how unity and love and tolerance are much more conducive to human welfare than hatred and separatism and sectarianism.

The Ageless Wisdom Teachings are slowly permeating the thinking of religious and spiritual leaders. If for no other reason but the need to understand those who have a different faith and to practice the love and tolerance that is the cornerstone of every religious and spiritual tradition, this is an important development. Now that we understand that there are no borders in the world and we are one humanity, we need to consider the philosophical foundation that would make this understanding intellectually and religiously plausible.

You may not agree with this understanding of the Cosmic Christ. You may object strenuously to it. You may feel threatened that your religious beliefs are the most valid and most sanctioned by God. That is fine and I am not out to change anyone’s religious beliefs. Rather, I am presenting a view that may help us appreciate our common spiritual ancestry.

Let us set a new round table for religious discussions, one that allows a nice chair reserved just for the Cosmic Christ. Let Him listen to our discussions and our worries and our issues with each other. How would we then approach each other? I wonder what He would say as He listens to us?

Celebrities Now are the Stars of Literature

Celebrity Books: Who’s Next and Why We Buy

By Nick Krimp

The public seems obsessed with celebrities, and those entering the celebrity books arena endear themselves to fans even more. Film, music, television and sports stars who publish books show us everything from how to copy their hairstyles and fashion choices to how to become better parents and teach our children. There are even books by celebrities who tell us how to manage a boyfriend, or how to cook for one once trapped. As if the beloved superstars are known to date singularly and stay married forever.

Still, we follow the every move of our stars, often discussing what celebrity authors disclose in their books as if they’re our dearest friends. We embrace stars as though they’re a real part of our daily lives. It all begs this question: Why?

It’s only natural that we’d get pulled into their well-publicized dramas. Pop culture stars summon our most human yearnings: to love, admire gossip and immolate.

It’s difficult to accurately define, but it’s their charisma that attracts the audience to their lives, both public and private. Charisma refers to a seemingly “supernatural” or uncanny ability to charm, lead, influence, inspire, and/or persuade others. This particularly refers to a quality in some who easily can attract the attention and admiration – or even hatred – of others through a “magnetic” personality or appearance.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, however. It’s possible to derive value from a celebrity’s life and knowledge beyond the acting or singing for which they’re best known. Many actually deserve praise as book authors, too.

A number of superstars have valiantly written biographies, novels, or children’s books. In fact, many books by celebrity authors are quite good.

What follows isn’t a list of self-serving autobiographies written by ghostwriters. All of the books on this list actually were written by the celebrity credited. You’ll be surprised by who’s now an accomplished children’s author, cook book author or novelist. A few of them have even published self-help tomes.

Jane Fonda, the screen legend and member of one of Hollywood’s most famous families seeks wisdom and meaning after 60 in My Life So Far.
Kim Cattrall, author of self-help books such as Sexual Intelligence and Being a Girl.
Dolly Parton, author of various cookbooks, an autobiography, and the children’s story Coat of Many Colors.
Pamela Anderson, author of the popular chick lit novel Star.
Jay Leno, author of the children’s story If Roast Beef Could Fly, plus co-author of books about motorcycles and cars.
Madonna, author of various books including Yakov and the Seven Thieves and The English Rose.
Billy Crystal, children’s book author of Grandpa’s Little One and I Already Know I Love You.
Katie Couric, author of various stories for children such as The Blue Ribbon Day and Brand New Kid.
Whoopi Goldberg, author of Whoopi’s Big Book of Manners, Alice and other books.
Woody Allen, author of several tomes including two humorous short story collections: Mere Anarchy and The Insanity Defense.
Bette Midler, author of The Saga of Baby Devine.
Bill Cosby, author of the young readers book series Little Bill and many other humor books.
Jane Seymour, author of the self-help Jane Seymour’s Guide to Romantic Living and also the interior design book Making Yourself at Home: Finding Your Creativity and Putting it All Together.
Alan Alda, author of the second chance look at life, Things I Overheard While Talking to Myself.
Jerry Garcia, author of the children’s books There Ain’t No Bugs on Me and The Teddy Bear’s Picnic, and others.
Felicity Huffman, self-help author of A Practical Handbook for the Boyfriend.

Some critics question about the quality of books by celebrity authors, contending their being published is only due to their celebrity, not their writing talent. Another common criticism is that such books prevents other, more deserving writers from being published, since there’s only so much money from book publishers, online bookstores, and retail outlets to go around.

Yet, the trend of big celebrity book publishing continues. Throughout 2008, look for memoirs, biographies, cookbooks, and more from these highly-anticipated celebrity authors:

Christopher Andersen, Somewhere in Heaven: The Remarkable Love Story of Dana and Christopher Reeve (due in July).
Rev. Run and Justine Simmons, Take Back Your Family (due in August)
Michael J. Fox, Always Looking Up: Meditations on Optimism (due in September)
David Letterman, The Late Show Fun Facts (due in September)
Diahann Carroll, The Legs are the Last to Go: Aging, Acting, Marrying, and Other Things I’ve Learned Along the Way (due in September)
Jenny McCarthy, Mother Warriors (due in September)
Judge Greg Mathis, Inner City Miracle (due in September)
Perez Hilton, Red Carpet Suicide: A Survival Guide to Keeping Up with the Hiltons (due in October)
Ty Pennington, Good Design Can Change Your Life (due in September)
Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Estefan Kitchen (due in October)
Ted Turner, Call Me Ted (due in November)
Stefan Kanfer, Somebody: The Reckless Life and Remarkable Career of Marlon Brando (due in November)
Sir Roger Moore, My Word is My Bond (due in November)
Kanye West, Through the Wire: Lyrics and Illuminations (due in November)
Bob Dylan, Theme Time Radio (due in November)
Paul Simon, Paul Simon Lyrics 1964-2006 (due in November)
Magic Johnson, Magic Moves (due in December)

Nick Krimp owns the online bookstore Best Book Publish, which carries a mix of popular ebooks and traditional books, many of them by celebrity authors. Best Book Publish specializes in works by undiscovered authors and emerging authors through Print on Demand (POD), making it possible for fresh talent to gain wide exposure. Works published by Best Book Publish are available to consumers as well as 25,000 online booksellers including Amazon.

.how to Get Through English Literature

Writing and editing advice from www.goodtermpaper.com

Becoming acquainted with classic books can be one of the most rewarding ventures possible for your mind. However, these often bulky tomes can be quite intimidating.   What I advise, even if you cannot sit for hours on end and thoroughly digest the book you are assigned to read, is to make a determined proxy effort via Cliff Notes.  Many people will rant and rave about how AWESOME it is to sit down in a cafe, or on the beach, and just read a book.  To put yourself in the intricately painted scenarios, to stand side by side with a character as the writer’s world congeals and whips around him/her, to cherish every word of a genius, world class author…

But not everyone is cut out for long reading sessions that require absolute focus, concentration and sitting still (at least in body).  So the natural reaction is to reject and resent the advice to really ‘feel’ the book and let it sink in- this is what gives the liberal arts the fairy rap that it has.   Well, I am telling you that those feelings are REAL and that you can get much the same feeling for the text by reading cliff notes.

Your feeling and sense of the text is what will allow you to come up with a good paper topic.  Your thesis should be somewhat creative, but not off the wall crazy, and should be logical and well ordered.  But your inspiration to write a good thesis has to come from the feelings you distill over the reading of a long text. If you can’t actually sit and read it, at least get a feel for the plot, characters and the majesty of the story from a good summary like Cliff Notes.

Hotel California Meets The Great Gatsby: Music as a Teaching Resource for Literature

06 Sep

The most famous artistic product of the boozy 1920’s is F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, a novel about a man trying to recreate an ideal past in a drunken, materialistic present. It’s one of those books just about everyone has a strong impression of whether or not they’ve actually read it – which makes it hard for many to approach the story with fresh eyes.

If you’re a teacher looking for interesting, relevant ways to dig into The Great Gatsby, why not try something like this on for size: the 1920’s were to WWI what the 1970’s were to the hippy movement. The unprecedented global carnage following the so-called “War to End All Wars” turned disillusioned Americans inwards, setting their priorities on money, bootlegged liquor, and partying. Similarly, after the hippies failed to elevate worldwide consciousness with peace, love, and patchouli oil, 1970’s America drowned its sorrows in disco, drugs, and polyester pants.

As an assignment, have your students compare The Great Gatsby to a 1970’s song in this same vein. Take, for example, The Eagles’ Hotel California, one of the best-selling and most recognizable songs from this (or any) era of American history.

Hotel California boasts some of the most analyzed and memorized lyrics in rock and roll. If the element of mystery means a lot to you, you’ll probably be disappointed to hear Don Henley’s two cents: “It’s basically a song about the dark underbelly of the American dream.” Not that a bunch of rock stars would know anything about that. In other words, the symbol of Californian prosperity (back when that still existed) stands in as a microcosm of American decadence in the 1970’s.

The “hotel” (wink, wink) California is no Motel 6. It has mirrored ceilings, courtyards, master’s chambers, pink champagne, and high-falutin’ guests. The narrator can’t help but notice the seductive woman with a Benz, a mind that’s “Tiffany-twisted,” and a lot of hot guys following her around. He asks for wine, to which the captain famously replies, “We haven’t had that spirit here since 1969.” Since wine isn’t a spirit (and we’re betting The Eagles have a basic understanding of liquor), we’re going to go ahead and assume Henley is referring to some other spirit of ‘69.

In a creepy turn of events, there is then a beast-killing ceremony involving “steely knives,” which prompts the narrator to high-tail it “back to the place [he] was before.” Only when it’s too late does he realize that he can “check out” but “never leave.” How, pray tell, can a person be checked out without going anywhere physically? We’re thinking there might be some chemistry involved.

So let’s review: luxury, substance abuse, a beautiful temptress, materialism, violence, living in the past, and being trapped. Remind you of anyone?

As a rule of thumb, music is one of the best teacher resources because it can be deeply personal and easily relatable at the same time. Plus, the fact that lyrics are usually highly open to interpretation means your students will be putting in a lot more work than they think.

Shmoop is an online study guide for The Great Gatsby, Hotel California and many more. Its content is written by Ph.D. and Masters students from top universities, like Stanford, Berkeley, Harvard, and Yale who have also taught at the high school and college levels. Teachers and students should feel confident to cite Shmoop.

Why English Literature Or Drama Set Plays Need To Be Seen, Not Just Read

06 Sep

Any student taking English, Drama or Theatre Studies will find that their course features a number of set play texts.

These will almost certainly include a Shakespeare play or two, with typical choices including Hamlet, Othello and Romeo and Juliet. Alongside, these will be other classic plays, with popular choices including The Duchess of Malfi, A View From the Bridge and Dr Faustus.

Titles such as the above are studied throughout the English-speaking world, although each country will, of course, have its own preferences, particularly for drama by native playwrights or anything set in their home country.

A student in the USA, for example, taking a High School Diploma, SAT, ACT, Ap/IB or Bachelor’s degree in English or Theater Studies may well find himself or herself studying The Crucible.  A GCSE or A Level student in the UK could have Lady Windermere’s Fan as part of their curriculum. In Scotland, Macbeth is an obvious choice for the Scottish Higher exam. In Australia, The Chapel Perilous is a popular option for Higher School Certificate or Certificate of Education students.

Whatever the stage play, studying the printed texts is the obvious starting point – indeed, it’s essential. There are also many resources online giving the plot summary, key themes, characters and so forth, all of which can be useful.

However, there’s no substitute for experiencing the plays as they are meant to be experienced – in other words seen, rather than read.  If possible, students should try and go to a professional production of the play in question – in fact many examination boards specifically advise it.

In the first place, it makes the play, quite simply, more enjoyable. Students who may struggle with comprehension of a written text, or simply lack the desire to learn about it at all, will suddenly see what all the fuss is about. As long as the production is a good one, they will likely take genuine pleasure out of the experience.

In addition, the plot becomes clear.  The characters come to life, as does the way they relate to and interact with each other.  And, particularly important in the case of Elizabethan or Jacobean drama, the language becomes more accessible.

Not surprisingly, more pleasure and increased understanding is likely to be reflected in much higher grades.

Of course, finding a professional production of a set text play is often easier said than done, as stagings can be few and far between, even in big cities. There’s also the question of cost. A night out at a leading theatre isn’t cheap, and a teacher or professor wanting to take their whole class to a production can find the cost prohibitive.

So it’s also worth seeking out alternate means of seeing stage plays. For example, the BBC has filmed all of Shakespeare’s plays and brought them out on DVD – these are available individually or as a 37-disc boxed set. In addition, Stage on Screen has produced DVDs of stage productions of Doctor Faustus, The Duchess of Malfi, Volpone and others. Both organisations also produce copious background material, including sources, analysis and so on.

Productions such as these also have the advantage of being essentially faithful to the script and of being filmed as they are acted on stage.  (While it’s fun to watch a movie like West Side Story, inspired by Romeo and Juliet, or Strange Brew, based on Hamlet, transposed stories, heavily cut scripts and outlandish settings don’t help much with the final examination.)

Although it can never replace live theatre completely, one advantage of watching stage plays on DVD, of course, is that students have the opportunity to watch the play as often as they want, and to look at individual scenes.  And by watching a production together as a class, motivating and teaching students becomes more straightforward.

So if possible, see a live production, or one that’s as close to a live performance as possible.  For students and teachers alike, it can make all the difference.

Public Domain Literature for Easier Life

05 Sep

As an internet based business owner with a website that needs constant content and the thought of having to write this content on a regular basis fills you with dread then here are some ideas to help you overcome this dilemma.

Everyone who runs and maintains an internet based marketing business knows that a website needs to be fed with fresh articles frequently. Even people who don’t have their own websites know this because articles that are filled with useful information are the heart of what internet marketing is all about.

The main reason that the majority of internet users access the web is to search for information. Articles quench the thirst for information and give visitors the knowledge that they are seeking as well as providing other benefits for the website.

Articles help to gain higher ranking for the website and the benefit of this is that it gets listed more prominently on the search engines which is the place that everybody goes when they are looking for information. The point here is that the more prominently your website is displayed on the search engines the greater your chances are of generating more traffic to your site which in the end will result in more sales. Isn’t this the whole purpose of having an internet based business?

Another great benefit of writing articles is that it helps to brand you and you will become known as an expert in your field, one that people will want to listen to when they are having a problem or just need some advice. It will also get you more sales when the people who read your articles and learn more about you begin to trust what you say and recommend you to others.

So now that we have established the importance of writing and publishing articles on your website we come to the part about hating to write them.

Many online business owners would far rather spend time doing anything so long as it is not article writing but if you are just starting out or you have limited capital then it is essential that you begin this practice to stay ahead of the game.

If you want to stay out of trouble then it is not a good idea to plagiarize or copy other people’s articles as this practice is seriously frowned upon.

So what are your options?

If you hate writing articles and you cannot afford to hire people to write for you then you should think about getting free articles. You can begin doing this by looking in the public domain. There will not be any problems here as far as copyright infringement in concerned or any worries about receiving fines or penalties.

Public domain articles are given freely for any member of the public who wants to use them. You can happily publish these on your website, use them in a newsletter and even add your name to them. Always thought be sure to choose articles that are relevant to your business theme.

There is of course a downside to using these articles. The fact that they are free and open to everyone means that they are far from unique and this can be a problem. The best way to overcome this is to edit them a bit and add your own keyword phrases in to them to make them more unique.

Another option would be to invite other internet marketers who are in the same niche as you to submit articles to your website which could boost your content; you will have to allow them to add a resource box though so that they can have a link back to their own sites. Remember that there must be some incentive if you want others to do the work for you.

But if you truly want to benefit and build your internet based business successfully then there is nothing like having original and unique articles on your site. There are many freelance workers who will write articles for you for minimal fees and the benefits you will derive from following this course and having unique content will be worth every penny you spend.

You’ll need not to be afraid and get an easier life as it is. Just check out these links and be ready to see the reality in you: <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=”http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-special-offers-forum/35309-how-i-made-580k-using-public-domain-works.html”>The Public Domain Secret</a> and <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=”http://theknebaihcollection.com/TheForbiddenThread/”>The Forbidden Thread</a>

Public Domain Literatures

05 Sep

There are many Authors that find writing articles for their site to be a very tedious task. Many people who begin their journey in internet marketing will struggle to start writing an article. Many people dread writing articles because they find researching for the topic and writing down original materials will be too taxing on them.

You need to have your creative juices flowing and simply downloading an article would be plagiarism or stealing, not exactly. Have you ever heard about public domain? These are articles written down by many authors that have declared their works to be public domain, which means anybody can use it for whatever purpose they want.

While most authors would prefer to copyright their work for their rights, there are also a number who doesn’t mind sharing their work. Public domain articles are not owned by any one person and can be used by almost anyone. The writers have waived their rights to their works and it is out there for the public to make use of.

You can use public domain articles in helping you write your articles. With the public domain articles you can simply edit them to your own style and rewrite them as you please to make it suitable for your needs. All the ideas are there already and it’s just a matter of finding the right article with the topic or subject for your niche.

This is probably the easiest way to write articles. You don’t need to scour around the library or the internet for hours for information and start an article from scratch. For experienced marketers who are looking for articles to fill their site and to generate a high ranking for their website in search engine results, they can just modify the article by using keywords and keyword phrases related to their site.

And website operators do not risk any chance of getting sued for copyright infringement because they are public domain, once again meaning that anybody can use it. Writing articles by using public domain won’t require as much work as writing one from scratch would. You save a lot of time also.

One good factor in using public domain articles for your site or for any project is that you save a lot of money. You dismiss the need to hire experienced and seasoned writers that some website operators use to write their articles. While a single five hundred worded article would probably take most people a couple of evenings to write this is the price you have to pay to be successful.

Public domain articles are a virtual untapped resource that many people fail to realize the true value. The power of articles, keywords and keyword phrases have been deemed invaluable these past few years for many internet based businesses and sites that want to rank high in search engine results.

Public domain articles have given a great alternative for those who are cash strapped as well as do not have the time nor the skills to do their articles for themselves.

Searching for public domain articles is as easy as 1, 2, 3. You can search for them in search engines and do searches in many directories for the topic or subject that you need.
